Sports Nutrition

My nutrition for pre/post workout is somewhat changing as I continue to learn.

the core diet: unsweetened applesauce, fat-free fig newtons, pretzels, powerbar, EAS whey + powerbar perform

I am always trying to replace my calories and fuel my body with whole foods but sometimes going from one workout to the next it becomes more of a challenge to meet my daily needs which is where I found supplements to be a great way to refuel and replenish my body.

 Training fuel:

Skratch Labs– made from real ingredients, and that optimize performance for both sport and life.

Protein/ Recovery Supplements

EAS sports nutrition

I use EAS Sports Nutrition products because they are very easy to find (i.e. Sam’s Club, Costco, online or at any Health Shop) as well as taste absolutely delicious! I love the variety of products they offer which is perfect for a triathlete as my nutrition goals change pretty frequently depending on which training block I am in.

That being said, here are a few products my Husband and I use on a daily basis.

left to right: muscle armor, recovery protein, whey protein, lean15

Muscle Armor: I use after any intense Zone 4 or Zone 5 workout. Whether it’s swimming, biking, running, or weight training this container is easy to put in my gym bag and carry with me for immediate use in between one workout to the next. As a bonus, the taste is really great too– Orange flavor is one of my favorites!

Recovery Protein: I use this protein after a long 3+ hour bike ride or after a long run. It contains more calories and carbohydrates than the other types of EAS products and is the perfect ratio for refueling the athletes muscle’s immediately post workout until I can make myself a big meal at home. The vanilla flavor is John’s favorite so this container doesn’t last long in our house.

100% Whey Protein: This is my go to every day (during Ironman training season) protein powder that I use in my shakes either before I head out the door to go to work as a Nurse or when I cook/ mix in my early morning breakfast! The chocolate and vanilla flavors are both great, not too strong which is what I prefer for an early morning shake.

Lean15: This shake is GREAT for helping me lose that extra winter weight. I use this powder a lot in the off-season and also to help me drop a few pounds to get me to race weight before an Ironman.
