My inspiration to compete in a triathlon began when I was eighteen years old and starting my first year of college at The University of Mississippi. I came across a flyer at the intramural office for the Rebel Man Sprint Triathlon, consisting of a 400 meter swim, 12mile bike ride, and a 3.1mi run. I couldn’t believe some one would be crazy enough to want to do this, but the next thing I knew I was signed up ready to complete what I thought was a one time event. Waiting in line for the swim start for the triathlon, I’ll never forget a gentleman in front of me ask me if this was my first triathlon. Nervously I said yes. He then proceeded to tell me that this would be just the first of many triathlons to come for me. Eight years later, he couldn’t be more right. My love of the sport grows stronger every year, as I strive to become better in each event. With 5 Ironmans, a 70.3 Ironman World Championship Qualification, and now an Ironman Kona World Championship qualification under my belt, I look forward to what the next season will bring!
